Mandalas—are “manifestations of the lucid radiance of being.”

The word mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning “sacred circle.”

In Tibet the word for mandala is kyil-kor meaning “center and circumference.”

To draw your own mandala, begin by drawing a circle, using a large plate or another object as a template.

Next is to begin to draw within the circle or begin to color within the circle. There is no right or wrong. It’s only you and your expression.

If you chose to draw first, then when you are finished, you may color your creation.

Here is a list of what colors mean:

  • Red -- energizing, stimulation color, signifies life, love and the power to create.

  • Blue -- color of a clear sky, infinite space, the heavens, and calming and relaxing and nurturing.

  • Yellow -- symbolizes the sun and rhythms of time, and relates to emotions and represents the soul.

  • Green -- the color of nature, balance and harmony, symbolic of health, peace and prosperity.

  • Orange -- energy that maintains your body in health without your attention, also strength and worthy ambition.

  • Purple -- nobility, refinement, patience, trust, and faith.

  • Turquoise -- generosity, love healing, and helps maintain safe boundaries.

  • Brown -- symbol of the earth.

  • White -- light of the spirit, purity, innocence.

  • Black -- patience and respect for the soul of the departed, remembrance, eternity and constancy.
